I just got back from Family Reunion. Not with my aunts and uncles and third cousins, but KW Family Reunion- the annual pilgrimage of Keller Williams Realtors from across the country. This year we gathered in Las Vegas. Personally, not my favorite town, but at least the food is good. I wanted to share 3 of the surprising things I took away from my 5th KW Family Reunion
.
1. The Robbins’ delivered- BIG. The two keynote speakers were Tony Robbins and Mel Robbins. Two huge personalities, not related to each other, who both brought amazing messages. Tony Robbins is known for coaching celebrities from Hollywood actors to pro athletes, even US Presidents. It is clear why. The guy understands human behavior at a nuanced level and challenged the whole audience to really focus on what we CAN control, and see things as they are while choosing a positive approach. It was fantastic. Mel Robbins has a pretty badass story and she honestly was maybe more… relatable? She brought her super simple 5,4,3,2,1 GO approach to moving forward and choosing action. Well done on KW bringing these big thinking, hard charging speakers.
2. Back to basics- I always have a sense of anticipation before heading off for work trips. Often this is because I can’t wait to hear something, learn something, or bring back some nugget. It seems like I should stop being surprised by this, but once again the lesson was… there is no new nugget. I almost always end up typing some note into my phone that is just a reminder of something I already knew but needed to hear again in the moment. If you want to know this year’s nugget, here it is: Indecision is expensive. Basically, get to work.
3. The fam- This is another surprise/not surprise. I don’t know about you, but I get a little anxiety heading to a big work event like this. It is very “people-y.” But that is also a positive. The third surprising thing is how in a room of 15,000 people, there are still so many amazing meaningful relationships. I loved the time I got to spend with my KW Exclusive Pittsburgh fam, as well as my homies from the York office at KW Keystone. Keller Williams is a big company full of great people and I appreciated the reminder of those who have positively influenced me on my real estate and leadership journey.
There you have it. Three simple little takeaways from Family Reunion 2024. Cheers to closing out this year’s travels to Sin City, and I am already looking forward to the next gathering of good people learning, sharing, and building empires together.
